Two Kishoreganj Razakars get death penalty

Two Razakars of Kishoreganj have been awarded death sentence for crimes against humanity during the Bangladesh War of Liberation in 1971.

They are Syed Mohammad Hussain and Syed Hasan Ali Muhammad Moslem Prodhan. Hussain was the Razakar commander for Nikli upazila during the liberation war, while Moslem was commander of union unit in Kishoreganj.

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) handed over the punishment to the duo on Wednesday (April 19)

The three-member tribunal headed by its chairman Justice Anwarul Haque delivered the verdict.

Hussain and Moslem were accused of six types of charges in carrying out killing, massacre, rape, looting, arson attack, forced detainment, abduction and torture. All of the six charges were proved in the court.

The tribunal handed over capital punishment for massacre and rape (charge no 3 and 4). Both were given death penalty in charge no-4 where Hussain was lonely awarded death in charge no-3.
